Historia tej winnicy sięga 1171 roku (!), kiedy to mnisi cysterscy z klasztoru Zwettle nabyli swoje pierwsze dwie winnice (do dziś produkowane są z nich wina). Oprócz najwcześniejszych zarejestrowanych winorośli w Austrii, Schloss Gobelsburg może pochwalić się zaangażowaniem w rolnictwo ekologiczne, które na długo wyprzedza wszelkie nowoczesne trendy, pozwalając ziemi mówić samej za siebie. Wytyczne dotyczące produkcji są surowe, a uprawa winorośli została dostosowana do najnowszych osiągnięć, przy jednoczesnym poszanowaniu metod praktykowanych przez mnichów. Oddanie spójności z najbliższym otoczeniem winnicy przejawia się również w beczkach wykorzystywanych do winifikacji. The history of this winery dates back to 1171 (!), when Cistercian monks from the Zwettle Abbey acquired their first two vineyards (wines are still produced from them today). In addition to having some of the earliest recorded vineyards in Austria, Schloss Gobelsburg prides itself on its commitment to organic farming, which has long been ahead of modern trends, allowing the land to speak for itself. Production guidelines are strict, and viticulture has been adapted to the latest advancements while respecting the methods practiced by the monks. The commitment to harmony with the vineyard's immediate surroundings is also evident in the barrels used for vinification. These are made from wood sourced from nearby Manhartsberg, rather than the popular French or American oak.
