This is an accompanying event organized by the Galicia Jewish Museum

The exhibition "Unimaginable. The Void After the Great Synagogues" draws attention to the scale of destruction of pre-war monuments of sacred architecture. The reasons for the annihilation of these remarkable buildings were hatred and violence — hatred toward everything Jewish, and violence against people and their material culture. Destroyed and — from today's perspective — unimaginable, these beautiful, monumental synagogues were never rebuilt after World War II. Bringing together examples from 13 cities across Poland, the exhibition serves both as a commemoration and as an act of education about a heritage lost forever.

Wydarzenie towarzyszące organizowane przez Żydowskie Muzeum Galicja

Wystawa "Niewyobrażalne. Pustka po wielkich synagogach" zwraca uwagę na skalę utraconych przedwojennych zabytków - monumentalnych synagog. Powodem ich zniszczenia były nienawiść i przemoc: nienawiść do wszystkiego, co żydowskie i przemoc wobec ludzi oraz ich kultury materialnej. Unicestwione i - z dzisiejszej perspektywy - niewyobrażalne, te piękne, wielkie synagogi nie zostały po II wojnie światowej odbudowane. Zebranie na wystawie przykładów z trzynastu miast w całej Polsce służy równocześnie upamiętnieniu i edukacji o utraconym bezpowrotnie dziedzictwie.
